MULTICULTURAL CENTER OF THE SOUTH

This community center and interpretive facility features a wide array of exhibits on the many different cultures represented in Shreveport’s population. There are more than 26 diverse cultural groups living in the Shreveport-Bossier area, and this center celebrates that diversity.

The Multicultural Center of the South features cultural exhibits, a multicultural library, retail gift shop, and meeting and reception space.

Visitors can enjoy a wide range of entertaining, educational family activities and special programs including lectures, symposia, live musical performances, and cultural tour programs available throughout the year.

For those interested in African American history, the art exhibits, including paintings by folk artist Clementine Hunter, are particularly impressive. Also, the section on Creoles in North Louisiana is quite good.

In addition, the center hosts exhibits on the following cultures: Asian, Chinese, Cambodian, Creole, Cajun, East Indian, Filipino, French, Greek, German, Hispanic/Latino, Italian, Iranian/Persian, Irish, Jewish, Japanese, Korean, Native American, Pacific Islanders, Pakistani, Scottish, Slavic, Thai, and Vietnamese.
